Default Help with SS gameplay

Hi!

I've reached lvl 20 and aquired the skills from the SS build in Moloch Vein's sticky.
I tried to play but it didn't really work. So could someone please make a mini how-to from the gameplay?

Should i go alone or with henchmens? What skilld do i use first? How do i choose which enemy to target with the SS? I noticed, sometimes the SS damage is doubled for a few seconds. Is this a spell(maybe one of henchman did that)?

Thanks

he asked about gameplay issues not the build itself, so I doubt your post was of any help...

@op since you're new to using [spiteful spirit] I assume you're not talking about UW 55+SS farming or anything like that, just standard general PvE [spiteful spirit] build. in this case I gotta tell you that going alone is just foolish, you're not using a solo farming build, therefore get yourself a full party, prefferably with heroes and either a friend or 2 or henchies.

now for the gameplay itself, I'm not sure which build you're reffering to but the differences will be pretty minor anyway, so anyway... how to play it, what to target, etc, depends on your party composition and the area you're in. since these things will change very often I'll just lay down some general guidelines that will help you:
1. identify priority targets. Monks and other healers are generally considered the top priority. high damage dealers like Ele and some Rit bosses are the second highest priority. other than that it really depends on your party, have a lot of melee characters? enemy Necros can ruin your day therefore become a higher priority. caster heavy? enemy Mesmers are your biggest enemy.
2. focus your party efforts on the priority targets, in case of a H&H(hero and hench team) that means call the priority target and lock heroes onto it if neccessary.
3. watch the aggro and see where [spiteful spirit] will deal the most damage, remember it has adjacent range so keep that in mind.
4. cast [spiteful spirit] on the target you identified above. a few things to note here. this target must not be the priority target your entire party is focusing on, as you need the target to be alive inorder for [spiteful spirit] to deal its damage. if there are enemy melees with an IAS(increased attack speed) you should consider casting on them, as it will give you more packets of damage from [spiteful spirit]. as soon as you finish casting [spiteful spirit] make sure you switch target so your entire party won't kill the target you've just hexed, making it counter productive. if you previously locked your hero onto a different target than only the henchies will be your problem, so make sure they switch targets.
5. put your other skills to good use while [spiteful spirit] is recharging. here you can either focus on the priority target, with direct damage skills such as [cry of pain][necrosis][defile enchantments]etc, stick [insidious parasite] on a different melee, put [enfeebling blood] right at the middle of the mob, catching as many of them as possible, etc.
6. make sure to constantly switch priority targets once the current one dies. your party will perform a lot better that way.

I hope this post will help you get onto the right tracks, the rest will come with experience.

Post vanished for some reason

I'm a curses necro. SS/Reckless Haste work well together. I also use Rotting Flesh, Light of Deldrimor, Suffering, Weakening armor and Enfeebling blood. Curses 14, Soul Reaping 12, death magic 3. I have a platinum SR staff, that adds 20 energy, +30 health etc. I have a +1 curses in my bandana, Undertakers insignias in each piece of armor, +41 rune in my boots, +10 else where.

Myself and my Heroes:

[Talhkora;OwAT043A5Rmc3KJVE4q70foRAA]
[vekk;OgNDoMz/QyE0C+C6CRiCD7CiVA]
[Gwen;OQBEAbkCOI0zOOlxFCtyTA]

The I usually take Menhlo/Lina, Cynn/Eve(battery, she uses Bloodritual to help keep our energy up). I pretty much go wherever I want.

Hope this helps ya plan your build. As for attacks, go for healers first, OR in the case of the Charr in EON, Flameshielders. They can nuke your group fast, don't stand in one spot, or they will hit you with meteor shower etc..

If I take my MM (whispers)
[whispers;OABDQTxGPdCMhiAPUyOqUBUG]

My protection monk (when I take him)
[dunkoro;OwAT0mHD5Qnp8klsi1bmFEA]

If I need a point man (Assassin)
[Anton;OwBk0pex3OqjEM6JAJzHs0cAzzB]
I love vipers defense, gets him out of trouble and poisons those left behind, which Gwen captializes on with Epedemic)

Another build I like is my Dark Wizard
[Dark Wizard;OAdTY4D/nBjfADY2hPxhgNkHAA]
The shadow step out of trouble is fun and friends like me vanishing and the mobs being poisoned.

EDIT: Tyrael_Eveningsong: You do realize that using both [Spiteful Spirit] and [Faintheartedness] is counterproductive? If you are using SS, you want enemies to attack/cast as quickly as possible to trigger more damage packets from SS - with Faintheartedness, sure, you get a little bit of degen (just a hint, degen is easily mopped up with a heal, and mobs are fairly good at tossing heals to their buddies), but you reduce the damage output of SS by 50%. Why would you want to reduce your damage output?

So it should give him some ideas.
Assuming the use of that build in the first place the op is implying that he/she only has prophecies,in which heros are of course not available. This may be wrong naturally.

I also don't like the potential of where this thread may go. OP zling has given you an awesome post to consider and work from and with that I feel that this thread should be closed
